Earlier this month, Subaru officially announced its plans to bring the popular Subaru Crosstrek to the next level with an all-new trim level and a more powerful engine option.

For 2021, the new Sport trim level, which slots between the basic and Premium packages, will come standard with a 182-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER® engine. The top-level Limited trim will also receive this engine upgrade, which is also capable of 176 lb-ft of torque.

The all-new Sport trim will also feature upgrades to drive mechanics, as it will now feature Subaru’s exclusive dual-function X-MODE®, which fully optimizes Subaru’s standard all wheel drive system across various terrain conditions.

Subaru’s X-MODE® will be accessible via a center-console knob that can be set to normal, sand/mud, or snow/ice modes to ensure that your vehicle is always prepared to tackle the road ahead.

In terms of appearance, the updated Subaru Crosstrek will now feature newly redesigned front fascias on all versions, never-before-seen grille designs, and fresh wheel designs measuring either 17 or 18 inches.

Two new striking paint options will also join the party, as “Plasma Yellow Pearl” and “Horizon Blue Pearl” are set to replace Sunshine Orange and Quartz Blue for 2021.

Subaru has continued to make driver and passenger safety technology a priority as of late, and the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is no exception.

Next year’s CVT-equipped models will come standard with Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, which will include added features like adaptive cruise control and automatic lane-centering. Pre-Collision braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and automatic start-stop will return as part of the Subaru EyeSight® arsenal as well.

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will also come standard with the SUBARU STARLINK infotainment system, as well as standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration. A 6.5-inch touchscreen will also be included, which can be upgraded to an 8.0-inch display in the Limited trim.

Subaru has yet to announce official pricing for the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, but it’s expected to stay relatively close to MSRP on the 2020 Crosstrek, which begins at about $22,000.
