How much do you need to pay to get your hands on this legendary Subaru STI?

The listed price is 159,500 British pounds or US$231,371 which is quite reasonable considering how important the history of this world famous rally car is. After all, it is the history associated with car or man that makes him what he is today.

Buying a WRX STI is no big deal, as fans of the Japanese automakers do it all the time, however buying something with a rich history associated with it makes all the different. How many car owners in the world can say they own a car that was driven by two legendary rally car drivers to podium finishes? Apparently not many! You are not Al Gore! You did not invent the Internet – you cannot just make things up!

World Rally Championship

This particular WRX STI had been driven in the 2007 edition of the WRC by none other than Petter Solberg. It was placed in second position overall during the 2007 WRC Rally de Portugal and third overall as far as the WRC Wales Rally was concerned. Petter Solberg drove it for the Subaru World Rally Team themselves. He scored two podium finishes. It even managed to place fourth in the Wales Rally GB. These are no mean feats.

But if this is not enough to capture your imagination, then read on. This car also has a history with Colin McRae, the WRC Champion who once sat in the driver's seat. That is a lot of history and honor for one Subaru WRX STI. Add to the fact that this is a Subaru, a legendary car maker that has been winning awards left, right and center and there is simply no reason for you to not sell your kidney to buy this car. Seriously though, this is a marvelous car with a prolific history.

They will soon be growing kidneys like we grow tomatoes but that is another story as well.

Goodwood Festival of Speed

In 2007, WRX STI once again showed its mettle when it was driven by Colin McRae at the Goodwood Speed Festival. Colin McRae, the champion driver thrilled his fans on that day while driving his Subaru WRX STI Impreza around the course and he even did some spins and clipped some hay bales (some horses are not too happy about that!) while powering the rally car around the track. This was one of the last times that he made a public appearance in one of his Subarus.

Tragic Death

On the 15th of September 2007, Colin died tragically along with his son and a couple of his family friends when his helicopter crashed near his home in Scotland. The tragic accident happened just two months after the historic run up Lord March's front lawn. This was shocking and sad. His son dying and the others, that made this mortal crash even more horrendous than it already was.

The Car

This historic right hand drive Subaru car has been restored completely to its original World Rally Championship form including the drivetrain and engine. It had been sold by a dealership out of Northern Ireland. Ever since it has been restored, the present owner has only driven it 350 km or 217 miles. RallySales has said that the car is currently in showroom form and also comes with the official FIA Gold Technical passport log. It is originally listed by C&M Motors based out of Omagh via RallySales.
