Subaru arguably makes the best stock vehicles for taking on an off-road adventure. The company is renowned for its all-wheel drive vehicles. From the Outback to the WRX, all of Subaru’s vehicles are fully equipped for basic off-roading. Additionally, most of these vehicles are easily updated and personalized. You certainly don’t need to be a mechanic to make these cars ready for dirt roads.

Once you have a vehicle that is ready for off-roading, you just need to pack up the interior. Making sure that your vehicle is able to take the wear, tear and abuse that off-roading can inflict is absolutely the first step of the process. However, there are some very important supplies that should be included on an excursion.

Water

This is pretty self-explanatory, but nonetheless very important to remember. Having some extra water with you will ensure that you stay hydrated. It is always best to take more water than you’ll likely need. Two gallons of water doesn’t take up to much space.

Map

A detailed map is very important when off-roading. As most drivers go off of paved, charted roads, many GPS units won’t be able to pick up a location. Having a physical map will help in the event that you find yourself turned around.

Spare Tire

A spare tire, along with the equipment to replace it, are great to have along when off-roading. This may not always be possible with the space that you have, but it is a smart option.

Flashlight

With the absence of man-made light, you may have to provide your own. A strong flashlight will help if you need to do some work on your vehicle in the dark.

First-aid Kit

When you go off-roading, you are self-reliant. Having a kit is a smart investment, and may come in handy down the road.

Off-roading can be adventure and adrenaline filled. It is a great way to relax, and take your mind off of everything. Proper packing prepares you from the unexpected turns that the trail can throw your way.
