Subaru Motorsports USA is preparing for the beginning of the 2024 American Rally Association (ARA) Championship Season, which kicks off next month. This season is shaping up to be one that’s not to be missed, with two new rally cars, a full eight-round calendar, and extreme sports icon Travis Pastrana returning to drive the 199 car.
Driver Brandon Semenuk is returning with teammate Keaton Williams in the 180 car this season, riding high from a second consecutive Championship win with a perfect 2023 outing. Pastrana will be making his comeback with co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino and the Subaru Motorsports USA team after taking home wins from the 2017 and 2021 ARA championships.
“I have the same co-driver and team from our last championship in 2021 but we have a new WRX that is sure to provide some extra speed,” Pastrana said. “A few new rallies in the championship to look forward to and a rival/teammate that took the number one plate from me... Game On. This year is going to be a lot of fun.”
"It's great having Travis back in the championship!” Semenuk added. “Not only is it more fun having a teammate, but I enjoyed the days of trading times with him. That's the kind of racing I look forward to -- and two teams means quicker growth and improvement, and an even better show for the fans!"
Pastrana’s “take-no-prisoners, full-attack” style on the track is sure to make a fun contrast to Semenuk’s more precise and technical style over the course of the season. Even outside of the Subaru team, the competition is going to be fierce, with new drivers and cars expected to contend during every stage of the ARA Championship. 2024 is shaping up to be a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it season!
This year’s championship will take both drivers and spectators across tarmac, dirt, dust, mud, and everything between. This year’s ARA calendar is featuring the new addition of the Overmountain Rally Tennessee in September, formerly known as the Bristol Forest Rally. The teams started things up at the Sno*Drift Rally in Michigan from February 9th through February 10th. As the only true winter rally in the ARA calendar, Sno*Drift was a singular starting point for the season. Things will shift quickly to the more gravelly courses for March's 100 Acre Wood Rally in Missouri, then the challenging conditions of the Olympus Forest Rally in Washington State.
