The 2017 action film Baby Driver revolves around a getaway driver, played by Ansel Elgort, who uses a cherry red 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX on the job. Unlike many modern movies that rely heavily on CGI for special effects, nearly all the stunts in this film were performed by a real live stunt driver in a real live Subaru.
Some might expect a big budget blockbuster about bank heists to go for an exotic luxury brand, but producers chose the Subaru WRX because of its excellent drifting capabilities and its unmistakable cool factor. And now that production has wrapped up and Baby Driver is in theaters, one lucky fan has the opportunity to take this customized vehicle home.
Up for auction on eBay Motors, the WRX features Limited trim, an upgraded 2.5-liter tubro boxer engine, and a black leather interior. Converted to rear wheel drive specifically for the movie, it also has an upgraded rear differential.
Because it was used as a stunt car, this WRX isn't in pristine condition and it does have 158,000 miles on the odometer, but it still looks great and is fully operational. To promote the film, it was also featured in a music video by Danger Mouse, Big Boi and RunThe Jewels and it was on the red carpet at the Hollywood premier. It would be an interesting addition to any Subaru fan's or movie buff's collection.
