The car has been proportioned nicely and has some pretty good detailing all around it to give it a nice aerodynamic look. The interior is pretty space-efficient and clean in design too and comes with much nicer trim and materials as compared to previous models.

Engine choice

The turbocharged 4 cylinder engine that Subaru is known for isn't under the hood of this car. Instead, it comes in a 2.5i 4 cylinder option and a 3.6R 6 cylinder option. The first option comes with a 175 horsepower, 2.5 liter engine which is overworked whenever more than one person is sitting in the vehicle. But sound insulation is quite good which means that you will not be reminded of this constantly.

The 3.6R sedan has a 256 horsepower 3.6 liter engine which certainly isn't as responsive or strong as it could be. The ride is smooth and graceful though and the electric steering is nicely weighted.

Mileage

Gas mileage of the Legacy is amazing. The 4 cylinders are rated at thirty mpg combined and has a rating of thirty six mpg on the highway. The 6 cylinders aren't that impressive though at twenty three mpg combined.

Interior

The Legacy took a huge leap in size in 2010 and the redesign of last year didn't make it too much bigger. But the interior design has improved and this has made it a lot roomier on the inside as compared to earlier versions.

It is pretty obvious from the inside that the cabin is roomier as well as wider because of the improved seat placement as well as the corners which are right up to the dash. The leg room has also been increased significantly by a number of inches. Three adults could probably fit easily in the back as well for a short trip. The 60/40 split folding seatbacks are also still present in the rear. When folded down, there is a large cutout which can expand the entire 15 cubic feet of trunk space.

Safety

The car is also one of the safest and has been awarded 5 stars in each and every category as well as sub-category when it comes to NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) testing. One of the reasons why this car is rated so high is because of the EyeSight active-safety suite which is available on every model except the 2.5i. They have even added a few accidental avoidance features this year which has helped improve a system that is already considered one of the best.

Any time you can help prevent an accident or more road carnage is a good thing.

Features

The base model, the 2.5i, comes with power accessories, cruise control, and a rearview camera. Then there is the 2.5i premium which also has a 10-way power driver's seat, dual zone climate control and an all-weather package along with a 7 inch touch screen infotainment system and Bluetooth hands free text messaging. As far as the limited editions are concerned, they come with leather seats, 18 inch wheels, heated rear seats, and an audio system by Harman/Kardon. Some of the optional features in the Premium include a keyless start, navigation, and a moon roof.
