The first concept is going to be based on Subaru's Crosstrek Hybrid crossover while the second will be based on the Levorg model which is sold outside the United States. The Levorg is a sort of compact wagon which is quite similar to the Impreza range of today. It was previewed in 2013 for the first time as a concept car.
These new concepts have been officially named the Subaru XV Hybrid STI and the Subaru Levorg STI. The XV Hybrid and the Levorg STI concepts are both said to come with sporty STI parts like aluminum wheels, aggressive bumpers, and an upgraded suspension. There will most probably be a few interior mods too like accent stitching, dual-tone color combinations, and custom badging.
Joining these concepts will be an earlier STI performance concept from the 2015 New York show and the 2016 spec Super GT race cars designed for the Nurburgring 24 and Japan Rally Championship.
While there is not much information available about the Levorg STI, Subaru has released a statement regarding the XV Hybrid STI. The car offers unbelievable aerodynamic performance with functionality merged perfectly into its styling. Let's take a look at some of its main features:
- Front: The car has been given a wide and low stance which creates a sort of a sporty impression. Its unified three dimensional structure extends from its hexagonal grille which symbolizes the identity of Subaru to its hawk eye headlights. The front is the starting point of this car and progresses to the side and then the rear with every part uniting to create a solid form.
- Sides: The character line extends perfectly from the front fender to the rear shoulder via the door panels. The line rises towards the rear energetically after the lower door panel to give dynamism to the body's solid surface. The fender flares extend powerfully and perfectly express how reliable the AWD technology from Subaru is.
- Rear: The combination lights on the rear end share a similar motif with the headlights. The powerful shoulders on the rear fenders thrust right till the rear combination lights and show off a wide and low stance just like the front. The cabin silhouette has been tightened as well which only aids in enhancing the sport impression of the car.
- Specifications: There is little available in terms of specifications at this moment. All we know is the car will measure 4,400 mm x 1,880 x 1,440 mm (length x width x height) and have a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. It will come with 19 inch rims and have a seating capacity of 5.
The Levorg STI will most probably not make it to the US markets but Subaru enthusiasts will certainly be looking forward to learning more about the XV Hybrid STI. It is just a matter of days now.
