Subaru Crosstrek Special Edition comes in Red

They will start arriving at the dealerships later in spring. The car debuted at the Chicago Auto Show this year.

Some people like red, other people do not. It is a corporate and perhaps marketing decision. The Crosstrek does operate with the best of them though – the car is an amazing drive with plenty of capabilities.

A spokesman for the brand has said that the pricing for the car hasn't been announced yet. The Subaru Crosstrek Special Edition is more or less a lifted version of the Impreza hatchback which is already doing surprisingly well in the US and aboard. A popular reason for the success of this model has been that the theory of how neo-crossovers are getting all the love from the new generation of car owners.

Special Edition

The special edition of Subaru Crosstrek is based on the mid-level trim with the 2.0i Premium Crosstrek model which comes with symmetrical AWD, 17 inch alloy wheels and a leather wrapped steering wheel. In order to complete the red package and make it more appealing as far as the styling goes, it also comes with body colored mirrors and side turn signals (indicators) integrated into them.

The special edition also gets some red stitching on its steering wheel, door panels, and shift lever as well as a red inlay for the dashboard trim and red ambient lighting inside. This completes the red look of the car without making it look like "overdone" but enough to give it an exclusive look.

This limited edition production model will come with an all-weather package which consists of exterior mirrors, heated front seats, a rearview camera, a windshield wiper de-icer, blind spot detection, a power moon roof, push button start, and keyless access.

That is quite a lot of features packed into a single punch. Subarus are known for their minimalist interior designs and this one is no different. This is what Subaru stands for – true performance without all the bells and whistles (but it still has a lot of bells and whistles!). After all, at the end of the day it is the performance, user experience, and satisfaction that matters.

Infotainment

The standard Starlink infotainment system which comes with all Subarus has a 6.2 inch touchscreen, CD player, HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 4 month free trial for SiriusXM All Access satellite radio.

Engine

The 2.0 L four cylinder boxer engine can produce 148 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. For the special edition, it comes along with a 6 speed continuously variable transmission and steering mounted paddle shifters.

The Special Edition of the Subaru Crosstrek is going to be available in one and only one color – red. You can also find the same color in the BRZ and WRX models respectively. Because this is a limited edition deal, and because Subaru has become insanely popular with the fans, what with winning the safety awards four years in a row and their excellent all weather capabilities and off road handling and the fact that buyers love to love Subaru products, you can expect the Special Edition to disappear off the shelves (figuratively speaking) pretty quickly.

So if you are looking to buy a pure red Subaru then this is your chance to grab one and feel special since not everyone is going to get one and there will be plenty of takers. This is their way of saying thank you to their loyal fans and customers.
