The WRX

Before beginning, let us say that we are not going to be looking at the turbo version here. That is been saved up for the WRX. If you are a driving enthusiast, the WRX is certainly recommended for you without a shadow of doubt. There is no reason why it should not be as the car is rally ready with AWD. It has a manual transmission and a turbocharged FA20 motor which can be upgraded quite easily. All you need to do is add a boost. But for a lot of people, the WRX may just be out of reach.

You may not always be able to go on a weekend canyon drive, a drive along the coast, or take a drive to the lake because of fuel price considerations but the price for this car is cheaper than many electric or hybrids. The gas mileage may be more of a priority for some than others but not too many since the WRX is sharp, quick, and smooth. The WRX may not be for families, more for single woman and men but it could handle escorting a small family all over the place.

But this could be changing.

So these type of buyers are falling somewhere in the middle. They are essentially for a crossover of sorts and recognizing this segment, the Japanese automaker has come up with the all new Subaru Impreza which will be out and about in 2017. This version may be awfully attractive for the small or young family types as well. It is not as sporty but for a family car, sporty enough.

It is still fun

It is not like Subaru took all the fun out from the Impreza. The 2 L boxer four is direct injected and has more power as well as a better gas mileage than its predecessor. The Sport trim also has 18" wheels, a sports suspension, and torque vectoring. These features seem to be just enough to make even a daily commute a little more fun. Maybe that is what these buyers are looking for too.

Now you have more feet and elbow room. Your kids will be comfortable as well.

Engine

The total output of the 2 L engine is 152 hp. Even though this is not a mind blowing number, it will certainly help increase the gas mileage figures a few points up. You can look at anything between 25 and 30 miles per gallon with the 2017 Impreza. That is good enough for that drive to the lake or along the coast, right?

That is quite a reasonable compromise, wouldn't you say? Even the car's CVT transmission is going to act like a 7 speed gear box, with better control for the driver because of the paddle shifts. Subaru is known to make quality cars that are equally safe, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by its legions of fans and the number of awards that has been bestowed upon it over the years.

Its appeal

Even though there are quite a few cars in this segment, there is just something about this 2017 Subaru Impreza which has everyone looking forward to it. Although, people would have been more than happy to sacrifice some of the mileage in order to get the benefits of all wheel drive traction. But the addition of torque vectoring is certainly going to make foothill, mountain, canyon, and other types of rural drives a lot more interesting.

This is one car which should be considered in this price range. It can be quite difficult to find another car in this price range with checkmarks all across the board like the Impreza has. The car is practical, fun, and reliable.
