Earlier this week, the all-new, rear-wheel drive 2022 Subaru BRZ sports car made its official global debut at the Thermal Club Raceway in Thermal, California.
Developed with the same fundamentals of sports car design that it used to create the original BRZ, Subaru has developed a revolutionary low-weight, ultra-low center of gravity ride with precision handling and improved styling that has never been seen before in a Subaru ride. It’s a pure sports car with premium Subie DNA.
Clever and Modern Design
Despite its sporty heritage, the 2022 Subaru BRZ does not sacrifice comfort and practicality for power. The 2+2 seating and folding rear seats create a useful cargo area with enough space to carry golf clubs, race tires, and tools for the track.
The 2022 BRZ’s aggressive design spirit flows boldly throughout its front fenders and large side vent, which reduces drag by ducting air from beneath the hood. A small fin at the back of this ride’s rear wheel arch also assists airflow and adds stability at optimal speeds.
This ride’s wide stance and visual heft is lightened by a narrower greenhouse and rear hatch which flow into a dramatic upturned “ducktail” rear spoiler.
Driver Focused Interior
Every last detail inside the 2022 Subaru BRZ is intensely focused on the driver. A new customizable 7-inch digital dashboard serves as the focal point, while a surrounding programmable meter can show changes in amps, water temperature and G-force.
The overall cabin design is built to be contemporary and modular with improved driver amenities like standard smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay™ and Android ™ Auto, as well as Bluetooth® hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, rear vision camera and SiriusXM® services.
Limited trims feature telematics and vehicles equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission also feature Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.
Enhanced Chassis and Driver Control
The 2022 Subaru BRZ features a bespoke chassis that takes full advantage of its ultra-low center of gravity and high-strength body structure. With a 101.4 inch wheelbase and a near-perfect weight distribution, this ride is nimble and easy to control.
For on-track driving, the standard Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) traction and stability system gives drivers the ability to choose between five different settings. The system has been entirely redesigned to allow more driver input before activation, and can be turned off entirely to give the driver full control.
