Subaru of America has recently announced that it will co-host and serve as the official vehicle manufacturer for the U.S.A.’s first national litter clean-up and recycling initiative. This new project encourages people nationwide to help reduce landfill waste in their local communities.

Known as Facelift: Act Local, this six-day-long event is produced by the Yosemite Climbing Association and clothing brand The North Face. The event is designed to encourage individual citizens to independently go outdoors to assist with litter cleanup at their local green spaces.

Facelift: Act Local will officially take place from September 22 through September 27. The event is tied to Subaru’s anti-landfill initiative, which is focused primarily on reducing landfill waste in and around America’s national parks.

“At Subaru, we believe keeping the outdoors clean is a gift that keeps on giving, and no matter how small the site of the clean-up is, it makes a big difference,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Subaru of America, Inc.

“We encourage our fellow outdoor lovers across the country to take the time to sign up, get outside and make a difference in protecting and preserving the natural wonders of their own community,” he added.

Subaru fans, as well as those concerned about the health of our planet and living environment, are invited to join the movement by assembling small teams and finding a nearby outdoor location to safely pick up, sort, and recycle discarded trash.

Hard-to-recycle items, such as snack bags, disposable cups, lids, and plastic straws, can be brought to a participating Subaru retailer, which will ensure that the items are responsibly recycled into furnishing like park benches that can be donated back to the community.

“It feels good to do good! If even one person is motivated to get outside and clean up a place they love who wouldn’t have been otherwise, this event will be successful,” said Allyson Gunsallus, Managing Director of the Yosemite Climbing Association. “We need positive local engagement more than ever right now.”

Participants must take The Pledge in order to participate. To do so, visit Facelift: Art Local at www.yosemitefacelift.com for details and share their clean-up and recycling results and photos on social media with the hashtag, #FaceliftActLocal.

Don’t hesitate to go green. You can join the team and start being a friend to the environment today. We could really use your help!
