Subaru Releases The All-New 2022 WRX
Marking the model’s fifth-generation, Subarbu recently debuted the new all-wheel-drive 2022 Subaru WRX. The car takes visual inspiration from previous editions, but Subaru has also made significant changes to bolster its performance beyond what’s recently been added in terms of raw power.
The most important change for this generation is the transition to the Subaru Global Platform, which introduces a vehicle chassis that is 28% stiffer than last year's WRX model. The new vehicle also comes with suspension mounting points that are 75% more rigid, giving the WRX greater suspension travel overall, which will pay off when making sharp turns on a rough road or on the highway.
Built with power in mind, the new WRX includes upgraded handling and raises the bar for high-performance. With a new direct-injection turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® engine and the exclusive appeal and style of the new GT trim, the WRX’s internals are unmatched for its class. The new engine is flat-four turbocharged and expanded from 2.0 to 2.4 liters this year, bringing a shocking 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The engine also pairs with either a manual six-speed or the Subaru Performance Transmission that delivers power via the company's in-house AWD system.
The 2022 WRX’s exterior has been recreated with clean, athletic lines and features flared fenders that reference its storied rally past. Unique LED headlights bookend the Subaru's signature grille, and a large, wide hood scoop shows off the model's attractive wide stance. Same goes for the car’s rear, where newly designed tail lights emphasize the WRX’s updated styling.
Inside the cabin is a new edition of Subaru's Harman Kardon audio that's designed specifically for the WRX. The exceptional 11-speaker system brings 576 watts of enveloping audio power, and all music features are accessed through a brand new 11.6-inch Starlink infotainment system. The system itself comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
