A place on Car and Driver’s annual 10Best list is a prestigious accomplishment for any vehicle, setting it apart from its competitors as a distinguished and uniquely excellent vehicle. This year, the Subaru BRZ has received that honor! This is the BRZ’s second year in a row on the 10Best list, making it even more clear how special this vehicle is.
“Car and Driver is a legendary automotive publication, and we are honored that their experts again recognized the performance and value of the second generation BRZ,” said Thomas J. The process of making the 10Best Vehicle list is rigorous. Each vehicle is evaluated on how well it meets its intended purpose, its value, and how compelling it is to operate. All contenders are rated on these factors with a 100-point scale. Any vehicle, including cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans, that display impressive value and mission fulfillment while also being enjoyable to drive is likely to be considered for the coveted Top 10 spots.
The rating process takes over a week as Car and Driver editors drive, evaluate, and test over 70 different vehicles. Once the scores are in, the high and low scores are discarded and the averaged remaining scores determine the winners. Vehicles that can be nominated include all-new vehicles, 2022 10Best winners, vehicles that were not available for the 2022 competition, and any vehicle with significant updates. They must cost less than $110,000 and be on sale no later than January 31, 2023 Even though highly priced vehicles are excluded, due to the idea that a high price should guarantee quality and excellence, the competition is very fierce.
The BRZ stood out this year for excellently expressing the concept of “enough”, pointing out the space left unfilled by extra pounds and a high monthly payment.
“The car is utterly wonderful – it’s light, sharp, unfiltered, and inexpensive,” states Car and Driver. “Long may it remain so. We don’t need anything more.”
