According to AdoptAClassroom.org, over 92% of classrooms have students whose families can’t afford school supplies, leading teachers to purchase these vital resources with their own money. Subaru of America is AdoptAClassroom.org’s largest corporate partner, and this year is the third year in a row that the automaker and its retailers are providing funding to teachers from all over the country, helping them to purchase these school supplies and resources. The Subaru Loves Learning initiative and this AdoptAClassroom.org partnership are both proof of Subaru’s commitment to education and creating fair and equal opportunities to learn, and through these efforts the company has been able to support over 470,000 students across America.
“We are proud to work with AdoptAClassroom.org again this year to help students across America succeed in the classroom with the resources they need,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, Inc. “Subaru and our retailers want to support students in the community by providing teachers with the funding they need to purchase essential school supplies for a thriving learning environment.”
The 2023 program is beginning with Subaru’s adoption of all 55 of the classrooms at the four-school Camden High Campus, grades 9-12. Located near Subaru’s Camden, NJ headquarters, this school is especially close to home for the automaker. Subaru will also be funding career and technical education programs at Camden’s Eastside High School, adopted in 2022.
Throughout the month of August, Subaru and more than 630 participating retailers will work with AdoptAClassroom.org to adopt classrooms at high-needs schools in their communities, supporting teachers and providing funding. School supply kits will also be donated by many retailers, and some will be adopting an entire school of 20 or more classrooms.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to continue our partnership with Subaru for the third year to provide even more schools and students across the country with the resources they need,” said Ann Pifer, Executive Director of AdoptAClassroom.org. “The enthusiastic and generous involvement of Subaru and its retailers means that more teachers will be supported and empowered to make an even bigger difference for their students’ lives this school year.”
The Subaru Loves Learning initiative has helped Subaru of America support hundreds of thousands of students since 2021, recently earning the 2023 Gold Halo Award for Best Education initiative.
