Now that it’s June, Subaru Loves to Care Month is in full swing, and the automaker is putting in some of its biggest efforts of the year to give back to communities nationwide. Subaru is a longtime partner of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and is the organization’s largest donor. In 2023 the two organizations are renewing their partnership for the eighth year running to support families and children battling blood cancer.
Every three minutes a new patient in the U.S. is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma, for which the treatment and rehabilitation process is frequently long and draining, leaving them feeling weak, cold, and sick. The practical and emotional support provided to these patients by LLS and their partners like Subaru makes a world of difference in their comfort, as well as their motivation to push onward and fight the disease.
“Everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy life, and for those in the fight of their lives facing cancer, we want to extend our heartfelt encouragement and admiration,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, “Their courage is an inspiration to us all and together with our retailers, we’re committed to showing our support with a measure of warmth and love from our Subaru family to theirs.”
Subaru’s nationwide network of dealerships will be coming together to support LLS this year, with over 600 different retailers providing warm blankets and handwritten messages of hope to patients facing cancer. Many participating retailers are also donating specialty patient care kits and supporting LLS’s Patient Aid Program, providing blood cancer patients with financial assistance for costs associated with treatment, like transportation, food, and housing. It’s projected that by the end of this year, Subaru will have supported nearly 300,000 cancer patients across the country.
“We’re grateful for our longstanding partnership with Subaru and its retailers in support of LLS’s mission to improve the quality of life for blood cancer patients and their families and invest in cutting-edge cancer research,” said E. Anders Kolb, M.D., President and CEO of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “Through Subaru’s generous contributions and coordination of on-site blanket and care-kit deliveries, the company demonstrates its steadfast commitment to providing patients with support, encouragement and hope when they need it most.”
Giving back to members of beloved communities across the country is part of what defines who Subaru is, and at Haldeman Subaru, it’s one of our greatest sources of pride.
