Subaru of America holds a sincere dedication to spreading the love around and promoting the welfare of communities across the country, and showing love doesn’t just mean showing love to other humans! Pets and animals need just as much help and attention, and last year in October for Subaru Loves Pets month, the automaker made a big difference in the lives of over 47,00 shelter pets.

The partnership between Subaru retailers and local shelters took place in October of 2022, and the announcement of the number of animals helped was just announced recently by Subaru of America. In addition to helping these pets find loving homes and freeing up room in shelters for more pets to be rescued, Subaru donated over $1.6 million to local shelter partners in an effort to support their care for animals all across the country.

“We know that adopting a pet into your family is a big decision, and we’re humbled by the thousands of people who chose to welcome a shelter pet into their homes via our Subaru Loves Pets adoption events,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Subaru of America, Inc. “We want to thank our retailers and shelter partners for their support in achieving an incredible adoption milestone and for “making the day” of thousands of dogs, cats, and other adoptable pets.”

During Subaru Loves Pets month in 2022, more than 600 retailers nationwide hosted adoption events at their retail locations, working with local shelters to help hundreds of pets find their forever families. October 22nd also marked the automaker’s fourth annual National Make A Dog's Day, a holiday dedicated to encouraging dog owners to do something to make their pooches happy– be it a long walk or a game of fetch in the park of a special tasty treat and an evening cuddling on the couch. National Make A Dog’s Day also encourages people to consider bringing older, physically-challenged or "different" dogs into their life– the Underdogs– who frequently have to stay in shelters for long stretches of time or stay unadopted due to their differences.

Since Subaru’s adoption campaign was started in 2019, Subaru has supported the adoption of 106,000 shelter pets, and over time has helped over 405,000 animals and donated over $44 million to national and local animal organizations. It’s all a part of Subaru’s promise to spread the love around!
