Meals on Wheels is a major charitable organization, supporting more than 5,000 community-based programs across the country dedicated to addressing senior isolation and hunger. Powered by thousands of volunteers, the local legs of this organization deliver nutritious meals to seniors while also providing safety checks and friendly visits, helping America’s older citizens to live independently with safety and dignity. The organization just announced the winners of four of its national awards, one of which Subaru of America was honored to receive.

The four awards presented were the Driving Force Award, the Sister Alice Marie Quinn Award, the Inaugural Power of a Knock Volunteer Award, and the Inaugural Extra Mile Award. Subaru of America was the recipient of the Driving Force Award, given for the company’s exceptional partnership with Meals on Wheels and its dedication over the years. The Sister Alice Marie Quinn Award was presented to Shauna Frost, Chief Executive Officer of Meals on Wheels New Mexico, and the The Inaugural Power of a Knock Volunteer Award went to Debbie Rickabaugh from Meals on Wheels America Member SourcePoint in Delaware, OH. The Inaugural Extra Mile Award was presented to Edwin Walker, the Administration for Community Living’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Aging.

Subaru has been involved with Meals on Wheels for over 16 years, showing a commitment to improving the lives of homebound seniors with significant financial support as well as volunteer engagement at all organization levels from Subaru retailers all across the country. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the automaker and its retailers, more than 4.3 million meals and visits have been received by American seniors.

Dave Adams, the Regional Vice President of Subaru of America’s Western Region was the one to accept the Driving Force Award, the second one ever given after it was first established in 2022.

“These four awards bring to light how local leaders, volunteers, government officials and corporations all play key roles in keeping the wheels of this proven public-private partnership turning,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America. “It is our distinguished honor to celebrate Shauna Frost, Debbie Rickabaugh, Edwin Walker and Subaru of America for embodying the Meals on Wheels spirit, furthering our mission and ensuring that no senior is forgotten.”
