Subaru’s dedication to giving back and supporting communities is one of the company’s most central priorities: a pillar that upholds the entire business. Multiple initiatives have been established to support this goal over the years, and this year the company celebrated the ninth anniversary of one of its longest-running charitable partnerships. Teaming up with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for Subaru Loves to Care month in June, Subaru reaffirmed its commitment to supporting those in need, especially patients and families affected by cancer.

In addition to holding the title of largest automotive donor to LLS, Subaru also will have supported almost 350,000 cancer patients across the country by the end of 2024, providing funding, blanket donations, and messages of hope. Throughout the month of June in celebration of Subaru Loves to Care month, the automaker will match donations made through LLS.org up to $100,000 in total.

“During Subaru Loves to Care month, we take to heart the difference that a personalized show of support can make for those facing cancer,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, Inc. “We are grateful to continue our partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, working with our retailers to provide warmth, love, and relief to so many courageous patients.”

Over 600 Subaru retailers have come together as a part of this initiative, delivering blankets and handwritten messages of hope to cancer patients at local hospitals across the country. The majority of those retailers are also working to provide curated patient care kits alongside these deliveries, providing tangible support to patients in treatment and rehabilitation, both emotionally and physically.

Subaru retailers across the country are also contributing to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Urgent Need Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Fund in support of young cancer patients and their families. This fund provides financial assistance with non-medical expenses, like food, transportation, and household utilities, to patients of blood cancer and their loved ones.

“As a pediatric hematologist oncologist, I’ve seen firsthand the joy that unexpected gifts bring to cancer patients, especially kids going through treatment,” said E. Anders Kolb, M.D., President and CEO of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “We are so grateful to our long-standing partner Subaru and its retailers for their generous contributions and blanket deliveries, and for recognizing patients’ experiences in a meaningful way that lifts their spirits and reminds them they are not alone.”
