Subaru unveiled the highly anticipated 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid at the 2025 Chicago Auto Show, marking the first-ever hybrid version of this beloved compact SUV. Combining Subaru's renowned all-wheel-drive capability with impressive fuel efficiency, the Forester Hybrid offers a next-generation series-parallel hybrid system designed for enhanced performance and sustainability.
The 2025 Forester Hybrid features Subaru's signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and is powered by a newly developed 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine paired with electric motors, producing a combined 194 horsepower. The addition of the electric motor boosts fuel efficiency by up to 40% compared to its non-hybrid counterparts, delivering an EPA-estimated 35 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined. The Forester Hybrid’s efficient hybrid powertrain enables an impressive range of up to 581 miles on a single tank, offering convenience for long drives. It is expected to hit dealerships in the spring of 2025.
Subaru's dedication to maintaining its off-road prowess is evident in the 2025 Forester Hybrid. The SUV boasts a standard 8.7 inches of ground clearance, ensuring it handles diverse terrain with ease. The hybrid powertrain also benefits from the inclusion of X-MODE® Dual Mode with Hill Descent Control, Active Torque Vectoring, and Vehicle Dynamics Control, allowing for a confident driving experience both on and off the pavement.
Safety is another standout feature in the Forester Hybrid, as all trim levels come equipped with Subaru’s EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. The upgraded EyeSight system now has a wider field of view, enhanced control software, and an electric brake booster, improving performance in various driving conditions. This system can detect cyclists and pedestrians more effectively, alerting drivers or applying braking if needed. Additional safety features include Reverse Automatic Braking, Blind-Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and the new Emergency Stop Assist, which can safely stop the vehicle and alert emergency services if the driver becomes unresponsive.
For tech enthusiasts, the 2025 Forester Hybrid doesn't disappoint. It boasts a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 11.6-inch high-resolution touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The multimedia system allows for seamless integration of smartphone apps, as well as controls for audio, climate, and vehicle functions. Subaru's Connected Services feature will also provide over-the-air updates, making it easier for owners to stay current with the latest software enhancements.
The 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid also offers an exclusive Daybreak Blue Pearl exterior color, paired with a contrasting Crystal Black Silica roof on select trims. Inside, high-durability StarTex® animal-free interiors are available, further emphasizing Subaru’s commitment to sustainability and modern design.
With its advanced hybrid powertrain, enhanced safety features, and tech-forward amenities, the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid is poised to set a new standard for eco-friendly SUVs without compromising on the adventure-ready performance Subaru is known for.
