Subaru is keeping affordability at the center of the 2027 Forester lineup, holding pricing steady across much of the range while expanding the SUV’s hybrid offerings. The 2027 Subaru Forester will start at $29,995, the same starting MSRP as the previous model year, while the Forester Premium Hybrid remains priced at $34,730. Most returning Forester trims also carry over their 2026 pricing, giving shoppers familiar price points despite updates to equipment and the lineup itself. The 2027 Forester is expected to begin arriving at Subaru retailers later this fall.
The lineup has also been reorganized for the new model year. Gas-powered Forester models are offered in Base, Premium, Wilderness, and Limited trims. Hybrid shoppers have an even broader selection with Premium Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Wilderness Hybrid, Limited Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid models. The gas-powered Sport, Sport Onyx Edition, and Touring trims have been discontinued as Subaru shifts more of the upper lineup toward its hybrid powertrain.
Familiar Capability Across the Lineup
Every 2027 Subaru Forester continues to come standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. Ground clearance measures at least 8.7 inches across the range, helping the Forester maintain the everyday versatility and bad-weather capability that have long been central to the model.
Technology also remains a major part of the package. Most trims feature an 11.6-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Forester Wilderness and every Forester Hybrid model receive a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Entry-level models use dual 7.0-inch touchscreens along with USB-based smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, SiriusXM, and USB-C ports.
Gas-powered Foresters use a 2.5-liter Subaru BOXER engine producing 180 horsepower. Hybrid models pair a specially developed 2.5-liter BOXER engine with electric motors and a lithium-ion battery for 194 combined horsepower. All versions continue to use a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission.
The First Forester Wilderness Hybrid
The biggest addition for 2027 is the Forester Wilderness Hybrid, the first Subaru Wilderness model to use a hybrid powertrain. Starting at $40,495, it combines the Forester Hybrid’s 194-horsepower system with much of the hardware that gives the Wilderness its trail-focused character.
The Wilderness Hybrid offers 9.3 inches of ground clearance along with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Dual-Mode X-MODE, Yokohama GEOLANDAR all-terrain tires, and enhanced underbody protection. Subaru says the new model delivers better fuel economy than the gas-powered Forester Wilderness while maintaining the all-wheel-drive capability expected from the Wilderness name.
Inside, the Wilderness Hybrid includes StarTex upholstery, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a Harman Kardon audio system, a power rear gate, and a heated steering wheel. It creates a new option for drivers who want additional off-road equipment without giving up the efficiency benefits of the Forester’s hybrid system.
More Standard Equipment on Key Trims
Several trims receive meaningful equipment upgrades for 2027. The Forester Limited starts at $37,595 and now includes features that were previously optional, including leather-appointed upholstery, an eight-way power passenger seat, rain-sensing wipers, a power rear gate, and a heated steering wheel.
The gas-powered Forester Wilderness is priced at $39,495 and now makes last year’s popular optional equipment package standard. Along with its 9.3 inches of ground clearance and all-terrain tires, it includes upgraded underbody protection, a transmission cooler, a 3,500-pound towing capacity, navigation, a 180-degree front-view camera, and Harman Kardon audio. Heated rear outboard seats and a StarTex-wrapped heated steering wheel are also new for 2027.
At the top of the hybrid lineup, the $41,545 Touring Hybrid adds features such as ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 360-degree Surround View Monitor, DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, and a Smart Rearview Mirror.
With pricing held steady on many models, a larger hybrid selection, and the introduction of the first-ever Forester Wilderness Hybrid, the 2027 Forester lineup gives shoppers more ways to match the SUV to their driving needs.
